Simply Elegant Arm Corset - Free Crochet Pattern

I wanted to have an easy project for someone who is new to graphs that would be good for warmer weather. So I came up with this arm corset! I love how it looks and the simplicity of it. It is a great pattern for someone who is new to graphing. I have included TWO graphs in this post. One is the leopard heart from the drink sleeve post rotated for the cuff and the other is a butterfly that is a new release perfect for beginning to graph. This can also be worked without a graph and looks great plain in both the single crochet and the Tunisian.

Skill Level: Easy

Gauge:
8 sts x 7 rows = 2 inches

General Supplies:
Yarn – worsted weight in one - two colors or number needed if using graph
Hook – H (a smaller hook will create a smaller piece if you wanted to size this down)
Tapestry Needle
Yarn bobbins (optional)

Abbreviations and stitches required:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
tss: Tunisian simple stitch
sl st: slip stitch
sk: skip

Notes:
In single crochet, odd numbered graph rows will be worked right to left, and even numbered graph rows will be worked left to right.

When working in Tunisian each row has a forward and return pass. All graph rows will be worked right to left.

To finish off in Tunisian, sl st across the last row.

Yarn Obsession has a good video on YouTube for Tunisian Simple Stitch HERE.

Moogly has a great video on color changes in Tunisian crochet HERE.
It was brought to my attention that the way I count my sts in Tunisian may be different. I count each box made as a st. So you will have one more loop on the hook than sts.

Single Crochet: Odd numbered rows on the graph will be read right to left, and even numbered rows on the graph will be read left to right.

Row 1: Ch 17, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. (16)
Row 2-17: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Work graph starting at bottom right corner.(16)
Row 18: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Change colors in last st if using a contrast for edging. (16)
Row 19: Ch 1. Turn work to work along edge of rows. Sc in each row end across with 2 sc in last row end. Turn work, sc in first 2 chs, *ch 1, sk next ch and sc in next* across. Turn work to work along the edge. Place 2 sc in first row end then sc across placing 2 sc in last row end. Turn work and sc in first st, *ch 1, sk next st, sc in next* across to last st. Sc in last st. Turn and place one sc in row end. Finish off and weave in ends.

Tunisian: When working Tunisian each row has the forward and return pass. Each row on the graph is read right to left.

Row 1: Ch 17, tss in 2nd ch from hook and each across. (16)
Row 2-17: Tss. Work graph starting at bottom right corner. (16)
Row 18: Tss. (16)
Bind off with sl st. Change colors in last st if using a contrast for edging.

FINISHING
Cut a piece of ribbon to desired length and lace through ch 1 sps. Or create a chain and use to thread through sps to lace the corset.
